The Lufthansa Group opens bookings for its summer 2027 schedule with ten new intercontinental routes, its biggest expansion since 2020. Lufthansa adds Columbus, Phoenix and Tokyo Narita, while SWISS keeps Bengaluru and adds Toulouse.

The Lufthansa Group is expanding its network for the summer of 2027 more than at any time since 2020. Bookings for Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Edelweiss, Discover Airlines and ITA Airways opened on 20 October. The group counts ten new intercontinental destinations, plus new European routes and more frequencies on many existing ones. Eurowings will publish its schedule later.

The focus is on the Americas and Asia. New nonstop routes go to Edmonton in Canada, to Columbus and Phoenix in the United States and to Caracas in Venezuela. From Frankfurt, Lufthansa also adds two destinations in Japan: Nagoya and Tokyo Narita.

Lufthansa: Allegris to Ohio and Narita

From 5 May 2027 Lufthansa flies from Frankfurt to Columbus, Ohio, three times a week. The airline says it will be the only European carrier with a nonstop link to the state capital, a region with a high share of business travel. The aircraft is a Boeing 787-9 with the new Allegris cabins.

The same aircraft and cabins serve the daily Frankfurt to Tokyo Narita flight from 28 March 2027, which complements the existing daily service to Haneda. Nagoya returns seasonally from 29 March, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Frankfurt to Kuala Lumpur, which starts this month, continues next summer and will then be flown daily.

From Munich, Lufthansa starts flying to Phoenix on 3 August 2027, three times a week with an Airbus A350-900. A second, seasonal Munich to Delhi flight follows from 28 March, also on the A350-900. Frequencies go up to Cape Town, Rio de Janeiro, Hyderabad, Chennai, Montreal, Bangalore, Chicago, São Paulo and Singapore, among others.

SWISS: Bengaluru stays, Toulouse arrives

SWISS keeps its new Zurich to Bengaluru route, which starts this winter, in the summer schedule, with five flights a week. Tokyo gets more flights as well: daily to the start of the season and in October, and six a week from June to September instead of five.

In Europe, Toulouse is new, with two flights a week between 25 June and 23 August. SWISS also flies more often to Paris, Nice, Hamburg, Budapest, Bremen and Niš.

The other airlines

Discover Airlines adds Edmonton from Frankfurt from 1 June 2027, three times a week, and bases a third Airbus A330-300 in Munich. ITA Airways flies from Rome to Caracas from 30 March, three times a week with an A330-900. Austrian Airlines brings back Tokyo Narita and Shanghai, and adds Vienna to Beirut from June to September. Brussels Airlines adds Cairo, and Edelweiss flies more often to Tampa, Zanzibar, Windhoek and the Maldives.
