The extensive renovation and expansion of the Hotel Ritter Durbach, located on the Baden Wine Road, was completed at the end of 2013. After 16 months of construction and an investment of six and a half million euros, the result is impressive. The hotel has been expanded with a four-story, partly wood-clad extension. It houses 40 rooms and suites, a spa area with a 360-degree view over the vineyards, two conference rooms, and an underground garage. A glass corridor connects the two buildings. At the same time, the owner couple Müller used the construction phase to expand the wellness area in the half-timbered house and make improvements. As a result, the gourmet star restaurant Wilder Ritter shines in new splendor, and the lounge with a fireplace gains more retreat options.

Good prospects in the new building

Together with the renowned interior design firm JOI Design from Hamburg, Ilka and Dominic Müller have succeeded in tastefully combining traditional half-timbered style and modern design. “The extension is a milestone for the Ritter: We were able to double our wellness capacity and make the event area even more attractive while separating it from private guests. Overall, we are now able to offer guests more retreat options,” says Dominic Müller. 35 bright comfort double rooms, one standard room, three comfort deluxe rooms, and a suite with a terrace invite you to relax. Specially designed furniture and natural tones combined with colorful contrasts create a modern, timeless overall picture. The theme of wine runs like a thread through the hotel. The color choice in the new premises is based on the wine growing typical of the region. For example, the colors green and Bordeaux symbolize the leaf green and the Pinot Noir red wine. Accessories such as toothbrush cups made from wine bottles reveal the well-thought-out concept. In the future, conference guests will have two new conference rooms with modern technology, a lounge, and an inner courtyard for breaks. The highlight of the expansion is the 450 square meter spa penthouse with a view of the Durbach vineyards. It boasts a large sun terrace, Swiss pine wood sauna, herbal chamber, shower world with various Hansgrohe wellness showers, a Kneipp pool, an ice fountain, and a cozy relaxation area.

Out with the old, in with the new

In the historic half-timbered house, the wellness area has been expanded with two new treatment rooms, a bistro, and a relaxation room with a fireplace. Thus, the hotel has a total spa area of 1,200 square meters. The gourmet restaurant Wilder Ritter moves to new premises and receives an elegant interior. Wood-paneled walls and noble materials shape the modern ambiance. The new reception area with a lounge character, which has been extended by a winter garden with a fireplace, invites you to a cozy chat.
