Must Read

Alila Hotels will launch their own Phinisi luxury sailboat entirely made of wood this coming December 2012. Its name is Alila Purnama, which will take its guests on an exciting journey around Indonesia.

By the way, Alila Purnama means Full Moon and will be the most luxurious Phinisi ship in Indonesia, if not in all of Southeast Asia. It is equipped with ultramodern facilities and can accommodate up to 10 guests and 16 crew members. The passenger/crew mix is just right!

The 46-meter long Alila Purnama has three decks that were handcrafted in the traditional “Phinisi ship” style. Phinisi is an ancient building style used by the native “Bugis” people from Sulawesi in South Indonesia. The furnishings of Alila Purnama are made exclusively from teak, rattan, and other typical materials from Indonesia.

On board are four beautifully designed cabins, all with air conditioning, queen-size beds, bathrooms with showers, desks, separate toilets, and two wardrobes. Additionally, the sailboat has a master suite with large panoramic windows responsible for a 270° panoramic view. The suite’s bathroom also has a bathtub. A balcony and a large sun deck with daybeds invite guests to relax.

A range of amenities is available on the luxury sailboat, including a library (books, magazines, DVDs), lounge, bar, dining room, and spacious sun decks. Free Wi-Fi access is also available throughout the ship. All meals on board, as well as non-alcoholic drinks, are included in the travel price. Wines, beer, and cocktails are available for purchase.

Alila Purnama has a licensed PADI diving station. Therefore, whether for beginner courses or diving for advanced divers, the staff is well trained and shows guests the beautiful and diverse world underwater, not just during the day but also at night. Of course, other (water) sports such as snorkeling, surfing, and canoeing are possible. Deep-sea fishing can also be learned. In addition, excursions to nearby islands are offered, such as Raja Ampat.

First excursion in December 2012

The first excursion of Alila Purnama will take place on December 15, 2012, starting in Raja Ampat in West Indonesia. Raja Ampat can be reached via the Sorong airport, which, for example, is flown to from Bali. From Raja Ampat or Sorong, guests embark on a six-night adventure island-hopping tour around Raja Ampat, passing through Gam, Miskon, and Yangello.

One thing is for sure: whether it’s sports activities, relaxing hours on deck, or adventurous explorations on the islands, Alila Purnama is perhaps the most luxurious way to sail in Southeast Asia.
