Star Clippers has released its summer 2028 programme, and it is the most varied in the company’s history. Its three tall ships, the five-masted Royal Clipper and the four-masted sisters Star Flyer and Star Clipper, will sail from Venice, Rome, Athens and Nice as before, and now also from Istanbul, Antalya, Malta and Barcelona.
The programme comprises 76 new cruises. Several are shorter trips of four to six days from Athens, Rome and Venice, aimed at guests trying a sailing holiday for the first time. Most of the seven-night itineraries can be combined into longer voyages, especially the Greek island routes of the Star Clipper and the sailings of the Star Flyer from Venice, Malta and Athens. In July and September 2028 the Star Flyer calls at Malta, Rome, Barcelona and Nice.

Highlights
The Royal Clipper, at 134 metres the largest full-rigged ship in the world, will accompany the sailing regatta Voiles de Saint-Tropez at the end of September. A new route with Madeira follows in October 2028: ten days from and to Las Palmas on Gran Canaria on board the Star Flyer, on three dates, from 3,875 euros per person in an outside cabin with full board. A week around Sicily and Malta on the Royal Clipper, departing on 20 May 2028, starts at 3,120 euros. Early bookings earn discounts of up to 10 per cent.
As before, the ships head for smaller ports away from the routes of the big cruise liners and may still moor in the centre of Venice. They carry between 166 and 227 guests, with a sporty-elegant dress code, free water sports and a spa. “We use the wind as the best fuel whenever conditions allow,” says CEO Leo Chang. Star Clippers has been named “World’s Best Green Cruise” at the World Travel Awards.
