Qatar Airways Flies to Bogotá and Caracas: The First Gulf Carrier in Venezuela, Twice a Week on the Boeing 777‑200LR

Qatar Airways now flies twice a week from Doha to Bogotá and Caracas with the Boeing 777-200LR. It is the first Gulf carrier to serve Venezuela and the first airline with nonstop flights from the Middle East to both cities.

South America is still one of the thinner parts of the Gulf carriers’ route maps. Qatar Airways is now adding two more cities. With the first flight on 4 November 2026, the airline connects its hub in Doha with Bogotá in Colombia and Caracas in Venezuela, twice a week.

The route is a first in two ways. Qatar Airways is the first Gulf carrier ever to serve Venezuela, and the first airline to fly nonstop from the Middle East to both Bogotá and Caracas. For the airline, they are its 16th and 17th destinations in the Americas, sixteen years after it first came to South America with flights to São Paulo in 2010.

A Triangle Across the Atlantic

Flight QR783 operates every Wednesday and Sunday with a Boeing 777-200LR, the long-range version of the 777. The flight leaves Doha at 07:35 and lands in Bogotá at 16:25 local time. After a stop of an hour and a half, it continues to Caracas, where it arrives at 21:00. The return flight leaves Caracas at 23:30 and flies nonstop to Doha, where it lands at 20:35 the following evening.

For travellers from Colombia and Venezuela, the new route opens Qatar Airways’ network of more than 170 destinations, with connections in Doha to the Gulf, Asia and Australia. In the other direction, the airline has also expanded its partnership with LATAM Airlines Colombia: Qatar Airways places its code on LATAM’s domestic flights from Bogotá to destinations such as Cartagena, Medellín, Cali, Santa Marta and San Andrés Island.

What to Expect on Board

The Boeing 777-200LR is no stranger to us. We flew Qatar Airways Business Class on this aircraft type from Doha to Auckland, at the time one of the longest flights in the world, and you can read the full story in our review of Qatar Airways Business Class on the Boeing 777-200LR. The cabin products of the airline have developed since then, so check the seat map when you book.

For anyone travelling from Europe to Colombia or Venezuela, the new route is not a shortcut: the direct flights remain the faster option. But for travellers from the Gulf, India or Asia, Doha has just become one of the most convenient gateways to the north of South America.
