SWISS Takes Off for Bengaluru: The First Flight From Zurich to India's Tech Capital, Five Times a Week

SWISS flight LX140 has left Zurich for Bengaluru for the first time. With five nonstop flights a week, the southern Indian tech hub becomes the airline's third destination in India after Delhi and Mumbai.

Switzerland and India’s technology capital are now directly connected. On 27 October 2026, at 13

, SWISS flight LX140 left Zurich for Bengaluru for the first time. The new route runs five times a week and makes the southern Indian metropolis the third destination of Swiss International Air Lines in India, after Delhi and Mumbai.

Before take-off, SWISS CEO Jens Fehlinger and Simon Bosshart, Head of Markets East at Switzerland Tourism, cut the ribbon at the gate in Zurich.

More than a new dot on the map

For Fehlinger, the route is about more than one more destination. He sees India as a market with enormous potential and Bengaluru as one of the most important technology and innovation centres in Asia. With a third Indian city, SWISS is investing specifically in the growth of its long-haul network and in Switzerland’s international connections. “Especially in an increasingly connected world, meeting in person and exchanging ideas directly are more important than ever,” he says.

The target groups are clear. Bengaluru, the capital of the state of Karnataka, is home to a large share of India’s IT and start-up industry, and many international companies have offices there. SWISS expects demand from business travellers, from people visiting family and friends, and from holidaymakers who want to explore southern India. The connection also works in the other direction: India is an important market for Swiss tourism, which is why Switzerland Tourism joined SWISS at the gate.

The route stays in summer 2027

Bengaluru is not a winter experiment. As we reported in our overview of the Lufthansa Group summer 2027 schedule, SWISS keeps the route in its summer timetable, again with five flights a week.

48 hours in Bengaluru

To mark the launch, SWISS Magazine travels to the city. Indian actress Nidhhi Agerwal shows her home town in all its colours, and for business travellers with only a short stay, the magazine names five places where you can see a different side of Bengaluru between meetings. You will find the tips at swiss.com/magazine.

Before the long flight east, premium passengers can wait in the SWISS lounges at Zurich Airport, among them the SWISS First Class Lounge, winner of a Skytrax award in 2024.
