The new The Capra, one of the twelve Swiss members of Preferred Hotels and Resorts, opened its doors on December 18, 2015. It was created as the vision of a group of friends who wanted to create a luxurious ski lodge in an untouched landscape in the Swiss Alps. Last year, they transformed a traditional Swiss hotel into a country house hotel with 14 suites that combines rustic charm with modern design. The extensive renovation of The Capra brought all the technology up to the latest environmental standards. Local materials were also combined with modern design elements in a harmonious and unique way. The stated goal, emphasized by Swiss host Raphael Herzog, is for guests to feel like they are in their second home while staying at The Capra. The Capra is a member of the LVX Collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest independent hotel brand, with over 650 exceptional hotels, resorts, and small hotel groups in more than 85 countries.

The boutique hotel, with its approximately 25 employees, offers discreet luxury and modern comfort in traditional Swiss chalet style. Most suites have a separate living room and bedroom, while others fulfill the current trend of open-plan with individual furnishings. All 14 suites have their own balcony with a magnificent view of the unique mountain world of the four-thousanders. The private chauffeur service brings guests directly to the ski slopes and ski lifts of the car-free village in five to ten minutes with an electric taxi.

The Capra features a brasserie open all day, as well as a gourmet restaurant that only opens its doors for dinner. Chef Oliver Glowig and his team provide culinary wellbeing at The Capra’s La Locanda restaurant. Born in Germany and awarded two stars, the chef previously worked at the Acquarello restaurant in Munich, the Grandhotel Capri, and the Capri Palace Hotel before opening his own restaurant in Rome in 2011. In January 2016, The Capra will host the Chef Event, a culinary highlight with star-studded chefs from all over Europe.

The exclusive spa offers guests high-quality treatment rooms for massages, manicures, pedicures, and Shiatsu. The wellness area includes a whirlpool, steam bath, and sauna, as well as a fitness room equipped with the latest technology. In December 2016, the opening of another new building with a large spa is planned.

In addition to the luxurious tranquility of The Capra, Saas-Fee offers active winter fun with numerous events such as the Ice Climbing World Cup, the traditional carnival parade, and various races such as the Horn Sled Race, the traditional Valley Race between communities, or the Allalin Race.
