Amsterdam, New York, London, or Hong Kong? No, it’s Hamburg! It’s a very special flair that greets you when you enter the new Hotel Tortue (French for turtle) in Hamburg. There’s no doubt that a hint of international big-city feeling prevails here.
Tortue is different, moving away from the system hotels, chain hotels, towards an individual “place to be,” which has been missing in the vibrant hotel landscape of the city of Hamburg. This bull’s eye landing is not surprising, as the team behind the hotel is none other than the former “team of makers” of the renowned East Hotel in Hamburg. With Marc Ciunis, Anne-Marie Bauer as hotel director, and Carsten van der Heyde, the team is well acquainted with creating the new hot spot and insider location of the city.
The hotel is located in an absolute prime location in the StadtHöfe in Hamburg’s city center. There are numerous upscale shopping options and famous promenades such as Neuer Wall, Alster, and Bleichenfleet, Stadthausbrücke, all located directly around the hotel.
The hotel employs approximately 130 employees on around 8,500m2. The hotel has 114 double rooms, 6 junior suites, two suites with a balcony, and 4 long-stay apartments. All rooms have free Wi-Fi and some have French balconies. The minibar and coffee are complimentary. Of course, there is also a fitness area available with the corresponding sports equipment.
The culinary offer also leaves nothing to be desired. With the bars, “bar bleu,” “bar noir,” and “bar privé,” there is something for every taste. With the Asian restaurant JIN GUI, which has around 110 seats on 200m2, and the brasserie for typical international and French cuisine, everything is taken care of.
The breakfast concept is also something special. The breakfast can be booked either “Petite” or the big breakfast. With the “Petite” option, a platter is served with a selection of cold cuts, cheese, jam, and butter. On request, more can be provided. From the buffet, a variety of bread, cereals, fruits, and juices can be obtained. Egg dishes can be ordered at an additional charge. These are freshly prepared in the open kitchen. With the big breakfast option, one egg dish per person is included. Tea and coffee are offered free of charge.
The Hotel Tortue in Hamburg is definitely unique in its look & feel as well as its concept in Hamburg. As we all know, rising to the hot spot of the city is not easy, but the hotel is well on its way there. Not to mention the friendliness of the staff!
