Aethos is bringing its hybrid of boutique hotel and members club to the Portuguese capital. In June 2027 Aethos Lisbon opens in Estefânia, one of the more authentic neighbourhoods in the centre of the city. The five-star house has 60 rooms and sits in quiet gardens. Access to the house and its event programme is reserved for members and hotel guests. It follows the members club Aethos opened in Anjos in summer 2025.

“Forget the classic check-in,” says co-founder Benjamin Habbel. “It should feel like walking into the house of a friend who throws the best parties.”

A Restored Villa and Two New Buildings

The Barcelona-based Astet Studio, founded by architects Ala Zreigat and Óscar Engroba, is responsible for the restoration of Villa Helena, the design of two new buildings and all interiors. The villa keeps its original architecture, while the new buildings enter into a deliberate dialogue with it, pairing curved forms with symmetry and classical lines. Wood and steel meet natural stone and high-quality textiles; greens echo the villa’s roof tiles and vegetation, and pinks and reds take their cue from the Portuguese Brecha da Arrábida limestone. The mature garden stays: plants and trees are temporarily replanted during construction and then returned.

Rooms, Spa and Programme

The 60 rooms and suites range from 28 square metre Deluxe Rooms to a 70 square metre Master Suite, each with its own terrace, balcony or patio. The spa has a sauna, hammam and cold plunge, and there are also a gym and an outdoor pool. The villa houses reception and several lounges on two floors, the upper one reserved for members. On the ground floor the restaurant opens onto a winter garden overlooking garden and pool, and two bars complete the offer.

The calendar runs from run clubs, guided sauna rituals and sound baths to listening sessions with resident DJs, long communal dinners, talks, exhibitions and collaborations with local producers, artists and galleries. Together with Aethos Ericeira, less than an hour’s drive away, members and guests can combine city and Atlantic coast under one membership.
